‘How to get Matlab?’ Has become quite a famous quote among the students of the Matlab course. Turns out not every student can find the program online to download it. With all the features Matlab provides for complex mathematical calculations which are used in lots of research and development across the world, Matlab has become one of the indispensable program for an industry or institute which has a research wing in their organisation. And with all the piracy going on around the world, it’s not a surprise Matlab is making it very hard to get a copy of its program free on the internet. So, looking at the statistics, and by statistics I mean, number of ‘How to get Matlab?’ queries, I am going to tell you some ways you can get your copy of the program to work on.
Get a Trial version of Matlab
Go to in.mathworks.com and download your 30 days trial version of Matlab program. This is a very long process, where you will have to provide every minute detail of yourself to convince them that you are a genuine user who wants to download the program for educational purpose only. The only con is that you will have only 30 days to work on the program and then you will have to pay for it. In case you want more than 30 days time to learn and work on Matlab, then keep reading.
Student copy from the Institute
MATLAB is the language of technical computing at leading engineering and science companies and the standard software at more than 5000 universities worldwide. The Matlab Student license allows students to install MathWorks software on personally-owned computers. The campus student license is paid by the Institutes so, students can work and research in the program freely. Check with your institute if they have the student license rights for the Matlab program. If yes, then get your copy right now and start your learning process. And unfortunately if no, then keep reading.
Buy the Student Version of Matlab
Mathworks provide Matlab student version for as low as $23 (Rs. 1500 approx.). Student software is for use by students on student-owned hardware to meet course requirements and perform academic research at degree-granting institutions only. It is not available for government, commercial, or other organizational use.
But if you are still looking for a free copy of the program, ask your friends in different institutes may be they can help you with their student copy of Matlab so you can learn freely without worrying about any trial period to end and you can teach your friend one or two things as well. And when all things fail and you don’t have any source to get your hands on the program, and make sure you have exhausted all the options, then drop me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are a student with us, or even an alumnus, we will see what we can do to help you.
